Jesus thought work was good. He said once, “My father works, and I work.” He pointed backwards to the six days of God’s labors building the world, and his day-by-day work sustaining everything that he made. Jesus himself worked very hard for the salvation of the world. He’s working now, to manage the world and bless his people.
Our God blesses work. It teaches humility and a servant attitude. It’s a good and humbling exercise when you have to do whatever your boss wants.
Work is good for young people. It teaches them the true value of things, after years and years where everything was given to them. When a person has a minimum wage job, it changes the way they view spending when they’ve earned it the hard way.
