One of the greatest things about living in America is that I feel that I can trust our military to be working for me. I don’t see soldiers very often. Once in a while I’ll see a military convoy on the interstate, a flag ritual at a veteran’s funeral, or the vapor contrail of a fighter aircraft high above. But even though I don’t see armed servicemen and servicewomen often, I know that they are on duty protecting our country.
I sleep even better knowing that God’s army of angels is on duty as well. My heavenly Father, who loves me, has promised that these powerful creatures are working to serve and protect—serve and protect me. Wow! The Bible promises me that God’s holy angels are ministering spirits, sent to serve those who will inherit salvation. It tells me also that their commander, Michael, and his legions have already clashed and prevailed over the demons.
Someday I will find out all the things that they were doing for me and for those I love. For now I rejoice in the promise of Psalm 91:11 that God “will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways.”
“All night, all day, angels watchin’ over me, my Lord.”
