“Things are not always what they seem.” My mother told me that when I was a little boy, and I have found her words wise advice. They provide great spiritual insight too.
It may look as though Satan pretty much has won the battle for the hearts and minds of the people of the world. It may look as though greed and violence are the only way to get ahead. It may look as though you are doomed to a life of declining financial resources and declining health. It may look as though your family life is one big disappointment. But those things are illusions!
Satan has not triumphed. He in fact is mortally wounded and has had his power broken and his time to torment us shortened. He himself is going headfirst into the lake of burning sulfur and he knows it. He is in a rage, but believers in Christ are now out of his eternal reach. Christ Jesus won the great battle of Calvary, and his resurrection demonstrates that he now owns the future.
In the meantime, hang on! “So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For, ‘in just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay’” (Hebrews 10:35-37).
Seriously! Just a little while.
