Our world offers you many choices, many temptations, many causes, many philosophies. What do you want? What’s important to you? What do you care about? Where do you see the biggest payoff? What are you chasing? Whom do you trust? Whose approval do you crave? How do you know what success looks like?
Here is the prophet Hosea’s challenge: “Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers his righteousness on you” (Hosea 10:12). Wow—there’s no other choice in life that yields greater satisfaction, that has a bigger payoff, that can satisfy your soul than to pursue the way of the Lord.
So what does that mean? It means listening to the Word so that you know what’s truly valuable; so that you know what lies are coming at you from hell; so that you can tell the truth when you hear it; so that you will be able to tell who are your true friends and who are dead weights that will drag you down; so that you know what to pursue that will bring you a lasting, honorable, and righteous reward.
The Word tells you that there is no meaning, forgiveness, or true love outside of a relationship with Jesus Christ. The Word calls him the central organizing principle of all human existence.
It’s time to seek the Lord!
