Ah, you still love me

Ask any wife. It’s not enough for a husband to assume that because he said he loved her five years ago he doesn’t need to say it again. The magnetic force that holds a loving and trusting relationship together decays a little every day and needs to be refreshed often. It must be refreshed if it is to last.

Tired, disappointed, guilt-laden, and fearful believers—you too need to pay attention to God’s love messages to reenergize your certainty of his favor. It’s the best and most powerful reason to read your Bible, go to church, and have family devotions. The gospel of Christ, which comes to you through the pages of Scripture or the food of the Lord’s Supper, reassures you that you still matter to God. He loves you even more than you love your children. Yes, that much!

The Bible lays out many stories of people just like us and shows how God works in their lives for good every time! There is no limit to his power, patience, or generosity. He who didn’t flinch at sending his Son to die for us and then raised him from the dead will not hold back the many smaller things we need as well. “Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in him. Rejoice in the Lord and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart” (Psalm 32:10,11).

How about singing a song to the Lord right now?
